Growing up in a “skiing” family that lived near Schuss Mountain in Northern Lower Michigan; Steve has 30 seasons on skis and 15 on a Snowboard. Steve’s Snowsports prowess is surpassed only by his superb customer service and people skills! As Assistant Director, Steve will focus on our School Group, Field Trip, and Weekday Special Programs. If you are a group leader or sponsor, Steve asks that you introduce yourselves to him upon arrival so he can ensure your on the snow experience is the best it can be!

Ric Norton

Snowsports Learning Center Director

Growing up just a few miles from what was than known as “Little Switzerland”, Ric’s first memories of snow sports was tobogganing, sleds, cross country skis, leather boots, leather straps, wood alpine skis without metal edges and oh yes…Snurfers!...Fast forward a couple of decades to 1987; Ric returned to Swiss Valley as a ski tech, boot fitter, pro shop manager and budding “old school” snowboarder! After a few years he moved outside to teach snowboarding than later added alpine skiing to his repertoire. Ric has directed the Snow Sports Staff for over 15 years. He is a ***PSIA Lev II and ****AASI Lev III certified instructor. He is also an Accredited Trainer and Children’s Specialist II. Ric’s playground is the Wasatch Front in Utah, but his backyard area is Swiss Valley where he counts it a privilege and honor to work with such a talented, experienced, and dedicated Snowsports Staff!

Former Region 2 Director USSA

An Icon in the Snowsports Industry, Mark’s passion and career began in the 60’s and his reputation has done nothing but grow exponentially since then! Responsible for training literally thousands of accomplished Aerialists, “BMXers”, Mogul skiers, Park enthusiasts, and just about any other sport that involves “extreme air”, “the Oz” is Swiss Valley’s most tenured and revered mentor. Many of Mark’s students have achieved National competitive status in their respective sports!

Alpine Clinician & Instructor

Another key mentor at Swiss Valley serving both on the National Ski Patrol as well as our Instructor Staff, Stan is one of our more technical trainers and most tenured certified ***PSIA alpine instructor. Stan splits his winter snowsports season between Swiss Valley “week days” and Boyne Mountain “on the Holidays” Not only is he noted for his technical savvy… most importantly, he knows how to put smiles on the children!
