Swiss Valley Ski and Snowboard Area has been working closely with the National Ski Areas Association and the Michigan Snowsports Industries Association to establish operating guidelines for the upcoming season. To our annual guests, the area will look a little different this ski & snowboard season due to COVID-19.  Swiss Valley is committed to keeping the area open for our winter guests but we need your help to do so. Items listed below are the adjustments being made to help keep everyone safe, healthy and keep our lifts turning throughout the winter.

Skiing and Snowboarding are healthy, outdoor activities with built-in ‘Tip-to-Tail’ social distancing.

Face Coverings


Swiss Valley has you covered… Disposable Masks are available for purchase for $1.00 at the ticket windows or in the Ski and Board Shop.


For the safety of our employees, skiers, snowboarders and winter family: PLEASE STAY HOME IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING WELL.

Be Wise, Sanitize

  • Sanitation stations will be readily available throughout the area for guest use.
  • All area cleaning & sanitizing will be addressed daily & more frequently as necessary.
  • Face coverings will be required in all public areas, the lift lines and while riding the lifts.
  • Your vehicle will need to be used as a “lodge”.  Please use your vehicle to prepare for the hills and as your gathering space.

Tickets & Ticket Windows

  • We do not plan on restricting daily lift ticket sales and/or use of Season Passes, Club Cards or Punch Passes. However, we do recommend purchasing tickets & rentals in advance at
  • Daily Lift Tickets and Rentals may be purchased onsite at Swiss Valley any day that we are open for skiing.
  • We encourage our guests to use our outdoor ticket window service located on our new east deck.
  • Be aware of our Refund Policy before purchasing Season Passes, online products and when purchasing a ticket onsite at Swiss Valley.

Picnic Lunches, Bags & Personal Items

  • Your vehicle will need to be used as a “lodge”.  Please use your vehicle to prepare for the hills and as your gathering space.
  • Please come prepared to boot up at your car and only bring with you what you can carry throughout the day.  Only rental customers for the day will be permitted to use the lockers located in the rental building.
  • Restrooms will be accessible in the Main Lodge & The Chalet
  • No indoor seating will be available for carry-in food.
  • The Main Lodge will be open at 25% Capacity.
  • The Chalet will be open at 25% Capacity, Friday, Saturday & Sunday.
  • The Chalet will be available to rent Monday-Friday for groups up to 30. See our Dining Page for details.
  • The Fireplace Lounge will remain closed.
  • Party Room Rental has been suspended.
  • Picnic Lunches will not be allowed in any of our interior locations.
  • Picnic Lunches are still welcome; however, they must be enjoyed at your vehicle or in an outdoor seating area.
  • Additional outdoor seating has been added for our 2020/2021 Ski Season.

On The Hill, On The Lifts & In Lift Lines

  • Face coverings will be required to load the lifts and in all lift lines.
  • Skiers and snowboarders will be asked to self-group and load the chair with their traveling party.
  • Lift attendants will not require guests to ride the chair with people they do not know.
  • Be kind when you stand in line.


  • We are temporarily suspending Apparel Rental for the 2020/2021 Ski Season.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at the entrance area of our Rental Department.
  • Face Coverings will be required and use of hand sanitizer will be encouraged upon entry.
  • Our Rental Technicians will wear face shields by customer request when working with our helmet, snowboard and ski rental customers.

Food & Beverage Areas: Café 225, Chalet & Fireplace Lounge

  • Under the current order, indoor capacity is limited to 25%. Take out is available in our Cafe’ 225.
  • Our Chalet will reopen at 25% capacity, with bar service and snacks for 21+ years of age ony.
  • Cafe 225 Menu has been adjusted to accommodate take-out style meals & beverage, Cafe’ seating will reopen at 25% capacity.
  • Bags and personal items must be left in your vehicle or secured in a locker. Lockers are available for Rental Customer use in our Rental Building.

Ski & Board Shop

  • Face Coverings will be required upon entering.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at the entrance area of our Ski & Board Shop
  • Our Technicians and Sales Staff will wear face shields when working closely with our customers during fittings and equipment repair.
  • Until further notice or until the start of ski season our Ski & Board Shop will be available for private shopping appointments only.  Please email
  • The ski & board shop is operating at 25% occupancy.

Snowsports Lessons & Children’s Programs

Our leadership is working hard to ensure the best possible learning experience while also maintaining and respecting social distancing guidelines.

  • Skiers & Snowboarders enrolling in lessons or learn to ski programs will be required to have their temperatures taken as well as complete a COVID assessment before participation.
  • The American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI) & Professional Ski Instructors America (PSIA) are currently developing best practice guidelines.  Swiss Valley may adjust lessons and program to adhere to suggested guidelines and practices.
  • We our suspending our Full Day Valley Kids experience for the 2020/2021 Ski Season and will be offering the program in half day format only.  It should also be noted that check-in procedure, equipment fitting and the physical program location may change. This program is available to children 8 Years and older, during the pandemic, we hope to return to all ages as soon as restrictions are able to be lifted. We will also offer private and semi-private lessons for those under 8 years of age.

  • Use trash cans and be respectful, don’t litter.
  • Be respectful of parking space size and availability, Don’t be a space hog, we reserve the right to enforce respectful limitations while you enjoy our property.
